Dr. van der Wijden (Carla), former tropical doctor, focuses on commitment, listening and personal attention. She has a broad interest and uses shared decision making to come to the right treatment.
In addition to her work as a gynaecologist, she taught patient-centred care as a business expert at Nyenrode Business University and the University of Amsterdam.

Dr. Giel van Stralen has worked in several hospitals in the Netherlands and abroad. Besides that, he has experience as a teacher, educational developer and policy maker. He is a dedicated gynaecologist who focuses on you — and the reason for your visit — and he is a good listener.
In addition to his work as a gynaecologist, he provides training to young doctors who will work in the obstetrical department in the hospital, and to general practitioners in training. He chose Gynaecologie Amsterdam because of the time and attention that is given to each patient.

Dr. L. (Lidewij) van de Mheen has been working at Gynaecologie Amsterdam since early 2025, after working in a hospital for a number of years. She switched to our small-scale clinic to have more time for, and a more personal approach to, her patients.
Together with the patient she looks for the most appropriate help, realising that gynaecological issues can have a major impact on quality of life. In her spare time she likes to be in nature, for a workout or a walk.
